Why watch this? Anne
Rice's original, engrossing novel comes to life on the screen.
Plot Summary:
Louis de Pointe du Lac is a vampire who recounts his
centuries-long existence to a present-day reporter. Louis
details his transformation into a vampire by the charismatic
Lestat in 1791 New Orleans and their subsequent time together.
Their lives take an unexpected turn when they convert a young
girl, Claudia, into a vampire, creating a complex and tragic
family dynamic that unfolds over decades and across continents.
Dad's Preview:
This is the great Anne Rice gothic story of the notorious Lestat de
Lioncourt, who turns another man, Louis de Pointe into a vampire
in 1790 New Orleans. Louis in turn bites a young girl whose
mother died in the plague, not truly understanding that his
action has cursed the girl to live forever as a 10-year-old
child. This visually
stunning period piece is loaded with emotion and vampiric eroticism.
It was not, however, successful enough to continue the
series, mirroring the books.
