Why watch this?
It's another superb prison film about Alcatraz.
Plot Summary:
Frank Morris, a hardened con with a history of escaping prisons,
is sent to the seemingly inescapable Alcatraz Island facility.
Facing the prison's harsh realities and clashing with its cruel
warden, Morris meticulously devises a plan to achieve the
impossible: escape "The Rock". With the help of a few fellow
inmates, Morris executes a daring and elaborately detailed
escape attempt, creating suspense as he and his accomplices
navigate the prison's defenses and the waters of San Francisco
Bay.
Dad's Preview:
This historical drama, loosely based on a real-life escape
attempt in 1962 where three men escaped from the California
island prison. This shows, in detail, all the planning and
creative acquisition of materials required for several inmates to
attempt to pull off a daring
jailbreak. It may not be 100% historically accurate, but it's
interesting and suspenseful. Eastwood reliably elevates the
entire venture. To this day, the real-life escapees
have never been found. I hope they made it.
