mother of God, I'm coming apart!" - George
Why watch this? This
is one of filmdom's best haunted house thrillers.
Plot Summary:
couple and their three children move into their New England
dream home. Immediately, strange things begin to befall the
family (as it did for the previous owners). The filmmakers
expertly build suspense as the audience must determine if this
is a spiral into insanity or demonic possession. The facade of
the house itself seems to be alive.
Dad's Preview:
This film, based very
loosely on a true story, has all the punch and jump-scares
you'll need on a dark and stormy night. The incredible
screeching violin-centric musical score helps create an
atmosphere of jolting terror. A year later
Friday the
13th (1980) would use a similar musical approach. The
performances by James Brolin and Margot Kidder are top notch.
